For garages and body shops

Check in every customer's car with a record you both sign

When a customer's car arrives, walk round it with them, record its condition and the mileage, and both sign. Check it again when you hand it back.

From launch: a two-week free trial for new subscribers, then £14.99 a month or £119.99 a year, VAT included, until you cancel. iPhone with iOS 17 or later.

A sealed KeySigned record: a navy plate reading Locked, DEMO 001, Demonstration record, not evidence of any real vehicle, a record hash, and Checked, the files on this iPhone match the seal
Demonstration record.

The arrival check

Before the car goes into the workshop, walk round it with the customer at the kerb, or at their door if you collect it. Record:

  • The registration, the mileage, and the fuel or charge.
  • The keys, and what's left in the car: the locking wheel nut key, a charging cable, the parcel shelf.
  • Every panel, the wheels and tyres, the glass, the lights and the interior.
  • Each existing mark, with a close-up. If there is nothing to note, record "No visible damage".

Then both sign. When the car goes back, check it again against the same record.

What car owners are told

The Motor Ombudsman's guidance for car owners (published 22 November 2018) tells them to agree the car's condition with the garage when they drop it off, and to check it again at collection. KeySigned has no connection with The Motor Ombudsman, which does not endorse KeySigned.

Last checked 28 October 2026.

A record you both sign

A paper sheet or a note in your garage system helps. With KeySigned you both sign the same record, it's sealed so any later change shows, and your customer can check it with the evidence pack.

For body shops, record the damage you are there to repair, and the rest of the car, with the customer before the job starts.

For a paper record, print our vehicle condition report. It is free, with columns for taken in and handed back.

How it works

Demonstration record, shortened. The car and some screens are illustrations.

  1. The walk-round

You and your customer walk round the car together. KeySigned guides you to eight photos, one from each angle, and checks each for focus, light and framing. You mark any existing damage on the photos of that car and add a close-up.

  2. Two signatures

You sign, then hand the iPhone to your customer, who signs the same version of the record. Any change after signing needs fresh signatures from you both.

  3. The seal

KeySigned seals the record with a key held on your iPhone. Any later change to a photo, mark or signature shows when the record is checked. Your customer gets the record page and the .zip evidence pack, and checks the .zip in an up-to-date browser at keysigned.app/verify. Records stay on your iPhone and aren't backed up, so export the ones you need.

Each opens the checker with a demonstration record. Nothing is uploaded.

Handovers in progress
Without an active plan, you can still finish, sign and seal a handover within 48 hours of starting it. After that, it needs a plan to sign and seal, and it waits on your iPhone until then.
Return legs
The return leg of a car you've already collected is never charged.
Your records
Records you've already sealed stay readable, checkable and exportable whatever happens to your plan.

Questions

Can my garage use KeySigned?

Not yet. KeySigned is coming soon to the App Store in the UK. From launch, any garage will be able to use it on a Solo subscription.

Can several technicians use it?

From launch, yes, each on their own iPhone. Each person on their own Apple Account needs their own Solo subscription.

What if nobody is there when the car arrives?

A record needs both signatures, so a key drop with nobody there isn't covered.

Does it work with our garage management system?

Not directly. It runs alongside it, and you export the PDF or the evidence pack to keep with the job.

What about collection and delivery?

Make the collection record at the customer's door, with them. When you bring the car back, KeySigned lines up the return photos with the collection ones, side by side.

Which iPhones does it work on?

Any ARKit-capable iPhone running iOS 17 or later. On iPhone Pro models with LiDAR you can also choose a spatial scan.
